Although I wish I was writing this from the beautiful city of Amsterdam, I’m writing this from a 6:30 flight to Naples… at least I get to watch the sun rise from 3,000 miles above.
Anyway, Amsterdam has to be the most appealing city I’ve visited in Europe to date. I love Paris with all my heart but it is plagued with some unfortunate things, such as a high amount of homelessness. Amsterdam is, what I an east coaster, would compare to Greenwich Village, NYC. It’s clean, it’s beautiful, and well maintained. Definitely the up and coming city of Europe. One of the things that is most noticeable is it is basically a place with regulations geared towards making its residents (and visitors) happy as opposed to restricting rights. Almost everything is legal (something we won’t get into here) yet the crime is so low (statistics of this given via Uber drivers but hey, I never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable here so I believe it.)
Visiting here in the autumn was a great decision. In the spring you get the tulip fields which is a plus, but in the autumn you get just an overall pleasant experience just walking everywhere around the city.
As for the fashion here: 10 out of 10. Pale colors and muted palettes seen all around. Very casual and neat as opposed to the stiff sophistication of Parisian fashion. Happy to have brought this pink knit cable knit scarf, wear all black everything here and they’ll know you’re not from here…
So many favorite places from here I need to devote a whole post to it. Stay tuned 🙂
