NYC is extremely unique in the sense that natives are visible purely by their fashion. You can pick out a tourist generally in an instant. The beauty of NYC’s particular style is that a $2,000 outfit can be replicated at $50. Why’s this? Because of the lovely palette of neutrals. Neutrals are your go to here. My favorite look is a white button shirt with some leather jeans and a pointed toe flat. Every store you walk into you can find these pieces but since I’m on a college lifestyle kind of budget, I found a white top at H&M and black leather jeans at Zara. I always love a higher quality shoe especially for the city (imagine if your shoe broke 10 blocks out, yikes!) so pointed toe flats such as these ones from Steve Madden are a must. Grab a giant tote, some mirrored avi sunglasses (my previously mentioned obsession) and you’re set to never be mistaken for a tourist at first glance in the Big Apple again.
