I’ll give you one guess for my subconcious theme of this week. You could probably say I was tired because all I was OBSESSING over this week was where to get not just a good but an amazing cup of coffee (or.. cawfee for all of my Jersey-ian/Yorkers). While I can’t write a “20 best places to grab a cup of joe in NYC” post yet (emphasis on yet, because at my rate one will exist by the end of the summer) yet I still can give my input for a few places I recommend and why. So for this week I give to you my coffee stop go-tos:
- Ramini Espresso Bar: This little piece of paradise is not too far from Penn in Midtown and my personal favorite mainly because of the ambiance. The all marble countertops make this place super chic and the huge plants from right as you walk in make you feel like you left NY for LA. Besides that the coffee is amazing and they’re so on trend with the newest coffee phonomenanas. My favorite is a classic latte which is finished so gracefully with a heart on top. I always walk out of here ready to conquer the day.
- Stumptown Coffee Roasters: If you know anything about New York it’s that walking anywhere is way faster than Uber and you can pretty much walk half the length of Manhattan in a half an hour. So what did I do? Walk half the length of Manhattan one morning just to try nitrogen coffee. And let me tell you something… that stuff is no joke. Stumptown’s location in Greenwich is so cute and reminded me of a library that I had to stay for a few minutes just observing the people (definitely regulars) typing and writing away. The location is so peaceful and in one of my favorite parts of Manhattan. Anyways, back to the coffee. Nitrogen coffee is on tap and is like iced coffee without the watered town taste, so imagine a really super rich iced coffee. On top of that the caffeine content is INSANE. Now, after doing some research I’ve learned that it isn’t necessarily that there is a lot more caffeine in this coffee, only that the nitrogen in addition to cold brew brings out the caffeine more. I am not sure but this coffee gave me enough energy to walk 20 blocks back to work and be an energizer bunny the whole morning. Not only that but it did not cause any caffeine headache like an excessive amount of any energy drink would, just a great amount of energy. If you have nitro coffee by you, I highly recommend for a seriously productive workday.
- Red Eye Coffee: If there’s one peculiar thing I love about NY it’s the ability for any small space to be turned into an amazing thing. Red Eye Coffee, also located by Penn, is a shop that defines grab and go. I once was in the shop with 4 people and that was pushing the space available. Size does not define though because the coffee here is amazing! My favorite is a large iced with almond milk. This is definitely my go to for an everyday iced coffee and a friendly vibe. No frills, clean and sleek, and just coffee. But hey, that is when the coffee is the best.
