It’s the most wonderful time of the year! A week filled with street style queens (and kings) and none of the tourists that come with the Hallmark most wonderful time of the year (AKA Rockefeller Center at Christmas). Of course we’re talking nothing other than New York Fashion Week. As we put a close on Fashion Month I wanted to share my personal fashion week experience and give acknowledgement to all the small designers out there. These men and women put on amazing shows and showcase superb collections in addition to the already established brands. The looks from top designers and up and coming designers alike were an exciting glance on what’s to come once the summer wears down and it’s back to fall.
I had the exciting experience to attend the NOLCHA shows in NYC for the second year in a row and saw designers Unwonted and Acid NYC put on phenomenal shows. Of course, no fashion week goes without incredible street style so to fit in naturally a one of a kind look was required. I chose an all black shirt and sheer turtleneck set accessorized with pops of bright pink and because NYC is 30 degrees this time of year, a cropped faux fur jacket. The best part of the week is that no matter what you wear you can never go wrong. Style is individual. This is always exemplified by up & coming brand shows. They’re so unpredictable and unique compared to big name designers that are more influenced by what can be made into items that are expected to sell in the future.
I highly recommend following smaller name designers as that’s where the true creativity lies. My favorite is getting inspo from smaller name designers. Thankfully this day in age style holds way more power than specific trends and you can dress within your personal style and still be trendsetting. What’s not to love about that?
Thanks as always for reading, babes. Interested in recreating my look? I’m so flattered 😉 Here are some of my favorites for a simple but stand out look for just the office or out and about in the city:
